Lake Hawea.

Hi Friends,

l have just returned from a great road trip around the South island of New Zealand with my wonderful family. We spent 2 weeks cruising around in a motorhome and loved nearly every minute.

This amazing sunrise was captured at Lake Hawea, which is situated just near lake Wanaka. We had spent the night in Haast on the West Coast, l woke up at 4am and it was raining heavily so l decided to drive back to Wanaka through Haast Pass and try my luck. We were 30km out from Wanaka when the colours had started to appear and thats when l decided to pull over and capture this truly stunning sunrise.

Hope you enjoy it.

More images to follow.

Great Ocean Rd.

Hi Friends,
A very unique perspective.
l am always on the look out for something a little different from the Great Ocean Road. This location is amazing, off the beaten track and standing on a very narrow cliff face (shaking at the knees) whilst composing. The views are nothing more than awesome, with the wild ocean and strong breeze just about blowing me over the edge. You really need to brace yourself whilst out at these locations and many times l ask myself ‘what the heck am l doing out here risking my life’ with so much corrosion and sections of the cliffs falling of, but here l am again living and loving what l do.

Stunning cloud formations on show just before a storm rolls through.
Black and white gives more drama and enhances the contrast in the sky.
l am always on the lookout for dramatic clouds.

The Bakers Oven.

The Bakers Oven.

Great Ocean Road, Port Campbell, located a few hundred metres away from Loch Ard Gorge, towards Port Campbell, turn off onto a dirt track and walk a few hundred metres to the location.

Make the most of your foreground, pot holes and reflections give lots of depth to the foreground and algae sets the colour off.
Get in ‘close’ to your subject matter and use a nice wide angle lens. Foreground, middle Ground and background should all work together.

Red Johanna Beach.

Following on with my Great Ocean Road Series.

A visual Journey with Master Photographer, Darren J Bennett (The Waterboy) along the Great Ocean Road.

This Seascape was captured at Red Johanna Beach, with a slow shutter speed of 0.5 seconds, just enough exposure to create a dynamic water movement. Getting in close to the water action allows the photographer to feel the energy associated with fast moving water.

Group and private workshops available.
